A Brief Moose Biography

It all started in the mid-1990’s with a couple of guys from various parts of Canada and from different walks of life who had one thing in common: a love of travelling! Having travelled the world extensively, they realized just how great Canada was as a destination, but that this country lacked a fun and flexible way for adventurous, independent travellers to get around. So…they all started their own “backpacker” bus networks separately! The first of these launched in 1996, and the others weren’t too far behind. After several years of fierce head to head competition between these small regional operations, the gents finally smartened up and after many negotiations (held at the pub of course!), merged into today’s Moose Travel Network – Canada’s only national jump on, jump off adventure transportation network!

Our network of bus routes was designed by travellers just like you, with your wants and needs in mind. That’s why we get you off the bus and off the beaten path where “tacky tourists” dare not follow! As a jump on, jump off operation, we offer you great flexibility to stay longer anywhere en route and to do your own thing for a while before continuing on with us. Or if you want more of a tour experience, just stick with your friendly Canadian guide/driver for the whole trip. And we know what it’s like to travel on a budget, so not only are our pass fares very reasonable, but we have also negotiated discounts for you on accommodation, activities, and food & drink!
